Jerry Holte’s mother passed away this week while Jerry and Karen are in South Africa. They will not be returning home from South Africa. Jerry and his mother dealt with this possibility before they left and this is the way she wanted it. Read the tribute he wrote to his mother.

Cold, hard statistics state that 1,000 children lose a parent each day in South Africa. We have wondered and prayed about how we could help these kids. Do we build an orphanage?

We have come to Santiago, Chile with a mission group from Des Moines First Assembly, our home church. There are 35 people on the team; it is always a special treat to travel with people from our own church.
